Yeah, Lyle is not a great CEO or face of the program. He immediately is looking for excuses and shifts blame way too much. He COULD be, but he is too narcissistic and wound way too tightly for it. He strikes me as a control freak.
This is our reality, sad as it is. And worse, UTAD will cite the "upheaval" of a coaching change as the very reason why Jones will be given another year. Worst of all, our fans will both lap this up, and defend it. It's madness.
Still want him gone. History has shown that these type games are to be expected. I want to see a team that I expect, not hope, to win against this UGA team. I also want a team that I expect to roll into Tuscaloosa and at least force bammer to play their A game to win. I also want a team where discussing the rest of this season is silly because the results are a foregone conclusion. Lyle A. Jones has shown me nothing in the past, neither at Tennessee or prior stops, that demonstrates he can deliver this.
That's just what they are expecting you to do. Be your own man. Get out there and make change happen.
Yep. Agree with all of this. Butch has actually shown an ability to learn and grow on the job (see: recruiting from 2013 to present), but this bit of learning/growth requires him to recognize his own shortcomings and assemble a staff to compensate. And sadly, that's a lot more difficult to do.
there is always going to some major program hiring. doubt usc and tenn would be going after the same people anyway.
I know we wouldn't be going after the same people. I doubt USC is looking to a mid-tier ConUSA coach.
They don't have the same exact shirt but they have some nice vintage stuff... http://m.fanatics.com/COLLEGE_Tennessee_Volunteers_Vintage_Clothing/so/no_sort
