Lebron James seemed to do ok. Isn't up to the execs to decide if someone is Lebron James or Joe Schmoe?

So? They'll get better prep working with the pros than playing in college. From a purely basketball perspective, the only reason to opt for college over the NBA is to improve your draft stock.

So you draft a kid based on potential in the top 10, waiting on him to improve. You're basically wasting the first 2-3 years of his contract waiting on him to adjust to the NBA.

Check out the definition of rarely first. How many players are there like LeBron or KD? I'll wait.

    Not sure why that matters.

The owners don't have to draft them.

Who are you going to draft instead? A lot of these kids would be best served adjusting to a level of play where they are not the by far the best player on the court.

And how many people in the draft are actually worth lottery picks recently?

    People they're more comfortable with.

    Like the NBA.

Then again, you're wasting millions of dollars per year waiting to get any return on investment in a player you draft.

Then what? The 18 year old can't go to college on a scholarship if he's hired an agent. Go overseas?

So then I hope the owners say they're doing this so they don't have to pay players for a few extra years, and they don't have the players interests in mind at all.

Say you're comfortable with a 4 year PG from UConn, but don't think he's worth the 3rd overall pick. And you can't find some schmuck to take the pick in a trade, then what?

Sure. If his name's in the draft hat, he's looking to play for pay anyway.

Pick whoever you're want. Just don't screw the players because you don't trust your judgement. Or at least be honest.

Pretty much. Don't enter the draft unless you've considered, and accepted, the possibility that you may not be drafted.

    Then tough shit.

How many players are getting screwed?

Then it's a big ****ing waste of money and in no way can you as the team do anything about it. Doesn't seem too fair to have to spend a lottery pick on a role player.

Did I miss where this said that kids couldn't go play overseas and get paid to play until they are 20? Oh wait, they can do that.

If they don't like it, tough shit.

Fine. Doesn't change that it's age discrim.
