The person who recruited and did the majority of the "coaching" of our draft eligible players is in Alabama.
We should send out a bunch of press releases announcing that Alabama’s Butch Jones didn’t have anyone drafted.
Adios Oklahoma drill - http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26800703/nfl-asks-teams-stop-oklahoma-drill-others
I get it in the the NFL, but damn the Oklahoma drill is football. Banning Oklahoma drill is basically saying we're banning football if followed at the lower levels. Especially youth and high school. I don't think the NFL is doing itself any favors in giving in to the Boston U stuff.
I still think in training camp it's got a place. I mean, I get it not doing it week 8, but in the preseason? Out kids love it when we run it. That and Circle of Life drill. You want to get the juices flowing, just run one of those.
Still think there's a place to see what a young guy is going to do against a vet, and on the flip side, if an older vet has lost a step or not. That said, I'd be much more likely to use it for guys that are fighting for those last few spots on the roster and not the older guys. You can tell real quickly how much a guy wants it in that drill.
Trust me I’m not against it because it’s about the football like drill that you can do. Layered Oklahoma is my favorite drill. I’m getting 7 guys all a solid meaningful rep.
My son's 9/10 team does layered Oklahoma in practice. We just go old fashioned 2 on 2 up front with a RB and LB. God I love it.
I call ours the tunnel of love We do ours as OL/DL RB/LB WR/C. From hash to hash and gets wider as it goes 5 yards to about 12 yards at the end.
