First time since I've been on the planet that the Packers suck. I know Packer fans hate that they didn't win more SuperBowls over the years, but damn, what a freaking run of sustained success and relevancy. Reminds me of the days of the Detroit Red Wings making like 30 playoffs in a row.
Most career games with 200+ rush yards & 2+ rush TD since 1950: Derrick Henry (6) Derrick Henry vs Texans (4) LaDainian Tomlinson (3) Barry Sanders (3) Jim Brown (3)
Ok. Let me be less hyperbolic and reframe: There are more fingers on my left hand than there are seasons that the Packers didn't even qualify for the playoffs, much less out right suck ass. 30 years of back-to-back HOF QBing is incredibly fortunate and special.
He's a freak. Texans suck total ass this year. But the Titans had no ability to have their QB and WRs even threaten to be productive today. Texans knew exactly what we were doing the entire game. 9 in the box at minimum every play. One pass the entire 2nd half. And they could not stop Henry to save his life despite him having the worst Oline by far of the entire Vrabel era. He was running back porn today. Vintage Henry
I spent the 80s suffering as a Packers fan and we've hit on two top 5 QBs of all time in a row. It's been a wonderful, but frustrating ride, especially the last 10 years. The front office and coaching has been a miserable failure since Ron Wolf left, saved by otherworldly QBs. We're headed for an 80s redux very soon, I think.
Titans kinda suck this year, but it's going to be near impossible not to host at least one playoff game. AFC South is historically atrocious. They have Derrick Henry and a pretty decent defense when healthy. But that's it. Winning one playoff game and making another team sweat it out the next round is about as good as it can possibly get this year, but I'm not expecting that. Likely one and done. Definitely won't come anywhere close to a SuperBowl.
It's obvious, but everything hinges on how you replace Rodgers. Hard for someone from my era to imagine a world where the Packers are perennial cellar dwellers.
1. Brady 2. Montana 3. Peyton (1st in my heart) 4. Otto Graham 5. Unitas 6. Marino 7. Elway 8. Brees 9. Staubach 10. Sammy Baugh
Aaron Rodgers hasn't had a season with double digit interceptions in over 12 years. He's in his 15th year starting, and he still hasn't hit 100 interceptions yet. His 4.76 TD:INT (462 TDs, 97 int) ratio is number one all time next to Mahomes' 4.07 (171 TDs, 42 int). Brady is 3.07, and Manning is at 2.15
Favre was the most entertaining QB I’ve ever seen. I’ve always loved Manning most because he went to UT and the urgency with which he played and his command and preparation but in my head I fantasized about being the Wild West gunslinger whenever I actually tried to throw a football. In school I wanted to be Peyton.
Top 5 without Unitas is not a real Top 5. Marino has to be there, too, but that could be my Dolphins bias showing. He would be throwing for 80 TDs a season in today's NFL.
Young was great. It's hard to compare the two as the salary cap was coming in to play at the end of Young's career. I'd also posit Montana had better coaching staffs. That being said, I still believe Montana was the better of the two. It's always hard to judge across different eras in the NFL, and Young kind of straddled one. I would also say that Young was the better athlete and football player, but Montana was a bit better as a pro quarterback.
