He's leaving out the leaving the work force at the expense of the tax payer. Since we'll be subsidizing their benefits.

Mother of Mike. Your interpretation of this is one of the dumbest things you've ever said. This idiotic idea that less labor input is somehow not the same as lost jobs is Gibbs level idiotic.

It exactly equals less individual earnings to pay for the healthcare being given away, meaning that those actually earning have to pay for the additional care. Pretending that doesn't hinder the economy, depress GDP and further foist upon those earning the bill for deadbeats is bullshit. This absolutely incentivizes more freaking freeloading, which is, no questions asked, the single largest problem for our economy.

This isn't Unimane level knee-jerk liberal silliness born of some compelling desire to be liberal, but it's damn close. Hell, it's almost as silly as acting like some blogger wishing away pension payments means they don't exist and that supply / demand doesn't apply to the PO.

it's just retirees. Those 2.1 million jobs of reduced incomes opting out and allowing us to pay for it is nothing. Essentially free. In fact, it's absolutely free for damn near half of Americans.

But you should feel good about this, they get to retire early. Just consider it charity. Do you really want to live in a country that forces people to make their own living if they don't want to? The humanity.

How much of this is demographics? we do have a lot of people nearing or at retirement because of the baby boomers.

Which is another thing that is scary about our economy. It sucks now, but huge population of folks are just about to move out of their prime consuming years and go into social security, medicare, etc.

this is why my head nearly exploded when Clinton was praised for having a social security surplus. of course he had a friggin surplus when a huge bunch of people were in their prime earning years and not in retirement. we are going to give the guy credit for demographics?
