I thought Joe Young had to quit?

I'm all for where we are from a player perspective, but I'm most excited to see what Shoop can do with these ingredients.

Our season is by-and-large going to come down to three (3) things, and only three (3) things:

    1. How consistently effective will Dobbs be in throwing the ball. We'll out-talent a lot of teams, but the good / great ones are going to get off the bus with the intent of loading up to stop the run. If Dobbs is effective in the "throw game" - not merely "serviceable" and not "makes a play or two here and there" - there is no ceiling on what this team can do. If he isn't, then we may have a ceiling of 9 wins, if even that.

    2. Have we improved as a staff, and if so, how much? Shoop is great - but how great, is the question. And the biggest question on the sidelines is Butch, himself. Can he play to win, instead of not to lose? Will his in-game management improve, and if so, how much. It's difficult to imagine he could be worse, and particularly in the very sort of tight games that we will have to win this season, if we have any hope of a playoff spot, or even in reaching Atlanta.

    3. Can we stay relatively injury-free at areas of particular strength or importance - QB, RB, WR, DL, LB, CB.

I'll have to see the first two, and consistently, before I believe it, because there is scant evidence to place any hope of vast improvement in either area. It just is what it is.

You're thinking of Mighty Joe Young because we couldn't prove him human.

In addition, the lines will define our ceiling.

Sounds like Chris Hannon or Bret Smith, a third of their catches were TD's, just not a lot of catches.

Confused by this. Won't he be blocking less as a TE than as a WR in our system?

No doubt. Probably hoping to get to put his hand on the ground too.

Inserting Croom so as to put his hand on the ground - absent the once a game misdirection ploy, if even then - will be just as stupid as when this staff was dropping Barnett into coverage on a passing down.

So, with this staff, I'd say Croom will see most of his reps in the Jumbo set on short yardage situations. And we'll run naked sweeps to his side, and which are easily telegraphed and super-slow in developing. Or, Croom will come in to take a reverse and do a quick kick on random 2nd downs.

If he'd realize it, he'll be a tough cover from that position.

    10th in preseason coaches poll.

I'm gonna soak up the hype and deal with disappointed later if it happens.

We quick kick 4th downs to catch em off guard. That's what the chart says.
