Practice Updates

DLine became a strength quickly. That's how you build a winner. I'll give our current staff that. If we weren't so stupid with offense and in game coaching, we'd be a viable contender.

I don't think it's possible to discount our offensive coaching enough.

 

Offense sells tickets.
Defense wins games.

Cliche, but true.

 

I think that's generally true, but offense has gotten much nastier over time. Had AL been without some firepower last year, they lose to Clemson.

Defense is much more consistent, but offenses have gotten much more complicated and less defensible over time. Only great great D can shut down the field like good defense could in the past.

 

Despite the horrendous offensive mistakes last year, we win two more games if we make 2 defensive plays. Hopefully Schoop can get those out of this unit. I think he can.

 

Botch still has to get rid of running scared. It applies on defense too.

It took something seriously awful coaching to long for the Mustang.

 

And that's two defensive plays out of about a dozen opportunities to do in each game.

 

I just don't see how this defense isn't a top 10 unit.

As long as the offense can have even decent TOP.

 

Thats funny and sad too.

 

Between the talent and Shoop they should be very good.

I think you will see a very aggressive defense and a very conservative offense

Brandon Johnson is apparently looking really good. Tuttle is also participating more in practice which is encouraging.
