Who is arguing hard for repealing our socialistic progressive system. I'll freaking tell you who is making that argument - the libertarians and on the basis of limiting government. It's not about fairness. The system is unfair but persists because it results in voting patterns that benefit a party and pits the masses against those who would presumably have more influence.

How is that saying anything about right and wrong? My saying something about Romney's position has nothing to do with right and wrong. That has to do with Romney's position. How is it inconsistent with any of his other positions. How is it inconsistent with the general viewpoint of fiscal conservatives? Complaining about unfairness in light of a barrage of stupid arguments about equitable asymmetrical taxation is hardly picketing for change.

Don't be a knee jerk buffoon. I have a position on it but am talking about Romney's, which has nothing whatsover to do with what I believe to be right or wrong. It's all vote buying and both sides suck.

I'm sorry that you're trying to somehow come up with some argument that our progressive system is somehow fair, but using Romney's election commentary to do so is just stupid.

50% reduction for each dollar is flat?

I have made that exact statement to people calling for a flat tax, and I'm told I am just stirring the pot.

I'm not beeing a knee jerk buffoon, I am responding to what you said regarding what is right or wrong.

I'm not "trying," I am ASKING whether it is fair or if Romney is advocating something unfair. I want to hear someone admit that their chosen party representative is using the same reasoning that gets roundly criticized when the Left uses it on other topics.

    That was 50 cent.

Okay. 50 cents for each dollar is flat? y= .5x +b?

I'm unable to take this attempt for substantive policy debate seriously when IP in his initial remarks claims that Romney is going to "appeal" Obamacare.

You can ignore the b if you like. The point is it has a slope. It is progressive.

Forgive me, I must be misunderstanding you. Are you not saying that you would be defraying the costs of medicare based on income?

help me understand what in the hell process one should use in voting? Are you absurdly trying to equate Obama and Romney? Are you saying I should just vote for Obama because Romney is vote buying too? Maybe you think I should vote for an outcome I'd prefer not happen.

    What's your point?

Right. So how is this not an inverse flat tax? i.e. most flat taxes say no taxes under 20k and 25% over that. and as BPV suggests, I don't neccasarily support this program, but I hardly see how it means he's a communist.

My point is that your criticisms of Obama fall flat when they apply to Romney as well. I understand you don't like either candidate.

I don't think it means he is communist, any more than I see Obama as a communist. Yet I hear it about Obama from the Right all the time.

How is a tax flat if it is progressively higher for some than others (even if there are only 2 brackets?)

Also, watch out. Lawvol will judge your position as "not serious" with that spelling of necessary. Not a jab at you.

Obama kinda invites such classification when he endorses redistribution.

IP, in regards to your first question. Since Romney has vowed to overturn Obamacare and replace it with 80% of Obamacare (essentially Obamacare without the taxes), I don't think you have anything to worry about.
