I think it's a bad idea to be kicking people out of school for something someone secretly recorded and put out on youtube. it's not as though they put this on their website themselves. that doesn't make them non racist idiots, but I doubt it is against university policy to be racist drunk idiots in private.
Well, you have a point there. I don't think it is a 1st amendment issue though. I'm not saying they should have been kicked out of school, I just knew they would be because the university is going to do everything it can to not appear to be harboring racist morons.
at some schools the frats are university owned and they can basically do whatever they want with the occupants.
David Boren's outrage seems a little calculated and over the top. The kid that decommitted from their football team seems a little opportunistic to use this as a reason as well. It seems he realized that would generate publicity and was already looking for a reason to leave. Otherwise, he's painting the school with a broad brush based on the actions of a few dumbasses.
There will be no escaping the impact for these guys. If they do have grounds to sue based on eviction or expulsion there will be significant public perception that they are suing over the right to be racist. Factual or not, you know that's how many will see the whole thing. It's difficult to hide in today's society; these guys are done.
yup. I'm sure their names are all over the internet and any future employer will surely google their names and find out what they did.
