Looking at some Jersey publications, it seems that it is doubtful that he would be a candidate. Joe Moorehead’s name is being tossed around. I think people in Starkville would actually like that to happen.

 

He wanted guarantees that the school would invest heavily in facilities upgrades as well as a large salary pool for assistants. Looks like they were unwilling to go there so he walked away.

 

In all honesty, who else is going to take that job?

 

Looks like if Moorehead is a no, then they’re going the coordinator route. I don’t know why even Butch would take the job. I would honestly hold out for another lower level P5 job or even a high profile MAC job.

 

I could not in good conscience let my client take that job if I were an agent unless I knew this was going to be his only shot at a head gig ever.

I heard Pruitt actually took a lower salary, so long as that money got added to the assistant pool.

 

If you aren't willing to upgrade facilities and anticipate a high salary pool for assistants, you aren't serious and shouldn't get your first pick for coach anyway. You are wasting an established coach's time. And anyone who ever has success there will eventually require those things anyway or they will leave for somewhere that will change the damn carpets and keep getting the latest equipment.
