I agree. It wouldn't be fair to expect anyone to live up to those standards.

 

sturgill simpson and chris stapleton are the ones doing it now

 

My good buddy's dog, Merle died in February, you can imagine how he feels.

 

I'll take the flames, but I liked the song Stapleton did with Justin Timberlake.

 

Why the flame that's what music suppose to be.

 

They may be replacements, but not shoe fillers.

 

I think as an artist you should never try to be someone else or fill another's shoes. the greats of past generations will never be replaced for what they did, but still doesn't take away from what the others are doing in an era that's so mainstream and cookie cutter.

 

I'm a Jason Isbell homer myself. I really like Simpson and Stapleton too, though

 

This sucks. I really enjoyed his music

 

I really like Live Oak by him

 

We are essentially in agreement, I like both, I met Stapleton at Bristol Rhythm & Roots, and he is a great talent not cleansed by the suits.

 

For whatever reason I've never been a big Isbell or dbt fan despite never hearing a song by either i didn't like.
