best comment I've heard was that it's a good job for a good coach and not a good job for a bad or mediocre coach. I.e. there is still ample local talent who grew up rooting for the u to win big and quickly, but they still expect national championships on the cheap and therefore have unreasonable expectations given the money they will spend.
I am interested to see how Golden does at his next gig. I think the U lied to him about NCAA issues coming in and also hamstrung him with their crappy budget and facilities.
It was too expensive to pay those guys all that money. But I think closing the orange bowl had a lot to do with it too.
Beckham has been trying to build a soccer stadium down here for a while. They're proposing to build one next to Marlins stadium, and people were talking about making it a dual use, soccer/college football stadium.
Akron built a state of the art dual purpose stadium. Miami needs support from the stiff Rockefellers who gladly build buildings and pad the coffers when football is on top.
