There isn't a wrong and a right on a lot of philosophical stances, only well and poorly defended. I'd say a large portion of all politics discussions can be reduced to either a belief that the individual should have full and free reign (within the limits of some arbitrarily defined legal system), or a belief that the individual should do what is best for humanity, even at loss of individual permissions.
I am coming over to your side. There is no reason for it. I can turn on Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc. to have smoke blown up my ass. There is no wonder that we can't get straight talk from politicians when we can't even get it from ourselves. Spin, Spin, Spin, Spin to whatever side you favor. Though there is no reason to close it. Just avoid it and let those happy to lie to themselves enjoy it.
