Osu showed what’s needed vs Ga man defense. —protect —buy time in pocket as ga dbs jump routes assuming pressure —qb has to run. There are too many opportunities to not take the yards
We had a QB this year who could do the last two things, but we couldn’t protect, and honestly Hooker was rattled.
think he only ran 2 or 3 times that I recall and had good gains each time. Need 8-10 drive extending runs imo from qb. They are there.
His best strength was his achielles heel that night - not dropping back on the snap. He just adjusted feet and threw. He couldn't do it. If there is one thing I would want heupel to add to the offense I wish he would add more drag routes for man coverage. We run ins, but a drag can be a deadly weapon if team wanna man up.
just need the protection and buy a little time. Ga dbs can be had after they make their initial commitment. Problem is most of the time the qb doesn’t have the time with the blitzes and usually throw short where Ga expects. Osu showed a little.
I've been thinking about that but with our spacing its hard to see it working as well. I think the thing that helped OSU is that they were multiple with their formations. 11 or 12, shotgun or under center.
You could do it with the end/h-back or out of motion. Just to have in the bag for aggressive man to man schemes. We run it a bit, I've just always been a fan of it. 7 yard pass can turn into a 35 yard gain quickly.
I can’t believe this rumor is actually gaining real legs. And I will absolutley rage if there is proof. Everything from losing that game to even Hooker’s injury would be on Michigan. My god someone would have to hold me back.
