I still haven't seen a status as to whether or not the 3rd booster was successfully recovered on the drone ship.

Lost the 3rd booster. According to Musk, preliminary data indicates it hit the ocean "at around 200 miles per hour" a football field away from the drone ship. All things considered this has been an amazing accomplishment.

They should be doing their final burn in about an hour to send Starman into an Earth-Mars Hoffman Transfer Orbit.

 

Especially the English writing ones.

 

Third burn was successful and will put it out towards the Asteroid Belt instead of Mars.

Even though it will never happen, I would love for us to be able to get a shot of the car traveling through space in a few years. Seeing what the Sun does to the car would be interesting to me, as it will most definitely bleach the crap out of the car's colors.

 

My understanding is the car will be unrecognizable in a couple of years, due to radiation and micrometeors

I wonder what caused them to put it in a different orbit. Unless they didn't want a car taking up space on a highly desirable transit route between Earth and Mars.
