Finally made the jump and subscribed. I found an article exploring the Haslam family's influence on Tennessee football written in December. The employment of Davenport was cited as an example of a lack of influence (given her "insubordination"). Made me laugh.
Haven't been thrilled with the quantity of the content since I subscribed a few weeks ago, but I suppose it's about as good as I can expect during the middle of the Football offseason(and I'm someone with little interest in the other sports). Will probably pick up some speed a bit once they get the Tennessee guy going(and the season draws closer), but even if it doesnt I can justify the money just for how damn good their app is.
Just hurry up and land Staples so we can have everyone worth anything there. Feldman is allegedly heading there soon.
I think a big difference now versus old attempts is that old school sports journalism is being faded out for videos, clickbait, and such and there are curmudgeons like myself that still love it.
i guess the ringer tried it, but it was way too focused on one guy in bill simmons. he hired a bunch of pop culture people too which is not something that hard core sports fans care about. they also tried to do it through ad revenue which is not sustainable. i'd be interested to know their subscriber numbers. i'm sure they are losing money hand over fist, so i hope this is sustainable long term.
I’m thinking about it...but the only sport I care about is College Football. Don’t know if it would keep me entertained year round.
