They wanted a massive improvement on D. They'll almost certainly get it, although they didn't have to pay that much for a good coordinator, it shows their willing to do whatever it takes to win. Maybe UT will take notes.
This is a bargain move for A&M. Think about it. Even if the prior DC made $1 Million less a year, Chavis can surely build a Top 30 defense there. That's better than Sumlin needs to win a Championship. Great investment.
Great hire, but they brought Cam Cameron (former NFL head coach) a couple of years ago, and even he couldn't fix that offense.
I was told by Chavis just three weeks ago at the West/Hillsboro game that they had Ugo, Phillips and probably Martin. Things have certainly changed.
I like old Cam. I attended quite a few IU games when he coached there. The best game was Randle El vs Brady.
