Yeah, he stopped having a roster full of NBA players.

Only when it's done by competent people. When it's done by people who think hiring Steve Alford is a good idea, not so much.

Did he have a roster full of NBA players at Pitt? Honest question, I don't remember

The fact you don't remember anyone who played there gives a hint as to the answer to your question.

I don't either. I also don't care to look. His work in 2012 is more relevant than his work in 2002.

His most recent work is winning a conference that's no worse than the SEC.

Who consistently wins big in hoops without future NBAers?

It's shocking to note that coaches win when they have good players.

That fraud up in Lexington hasn't done shit in my eyes. Should recruit some nobodies...then let's see how good he is.

Who needs multiple future NBA HOFers to get past the second round of the NCAA tournament?

    Oh, Ben Howland.

Cal is a fine coach. Try to keep up.

Cal had Wall, Cousins, Patterson, and Bledsoe and lost to Joe Mazzula and Truck Bryant before even getting to the Final Four.

Actually, Pitt is a much more comparable situation to UT. Tennessee isn't going to be signing guys you have to replace after one year. You've got to build around three and four year guys here.

No, we've been over this ground now twice. Cal is a fine coach, but he isn't available. The discussion is about whether Ben Howland is a good coach. And he is clearly terrible, as evidence by his last FIVE years on the job.

There's a good reason his phone hasn't been ringing off the hook.

Exactly what job was open last off season that he would have even considered? Good to know you're now answering Ben's phone for him. He'll have a job in a major conference by the time March is over.
