On a serious note, I would go up against anyone on my ability to read lake conditions (clarity, temp, structure, etc) and find the depth walleye are hanging out in when trolling in the summer.
I build mandolins and mandolas. Still dialing in the graduations but they're not bad. When I get one built that I really love I want to try an octave.
Now that is awesome. I have just started knife making, and I couldn't imagine the skill required to make mandolins.
It is just my natural voice. I am not really trying to imitate JC. Singing his songs like this one and "Hurt", "Folsom Prison", "Ring of Fire", and "Cocaine Blues" are so easy for me because they are right in the sweet spot of my range.
I'm working on my third project now... An H5 Mandola. 17" scale and I'm taking my sweet time with it... Pix at Rayburn Stringed Instruments on FB.
It's not hard, but it IS time consuming... Measure 27,329 times and cut once... After praying, fasting and losing sleep for weeks.... Everything depends on everything else and since its wood, there's an element of luck involved too to end up with an instrument that sounds special... The first two have been OK but not great. Hopefully #3 will have "it"....
