with the talent we have? I'm not sure where anyone gets the idea that Jones can coach at all. The offense is his baby, by his own admission, and it underperforms its ability almost weekly. He simply can't coach football and has no idea strategically or tactically how to win.

that's the point. Neither can coach - at all. Dooley alienated his players. Enough losing and under bus tossings will do the same for band guy.

Dooley basically had an NFL offense and still managed to **** it up.

Dooley was heading to us being a 3-4 win team every year. Butch will have us at least .500 most of the time.

no he didn't. He had Bray at the helm and that's a guy with a $.50 head on a cannon. He had no ability to run the ball at all (some of that his fault). Hell, Bray basically intentionally lost the KY game that doomed Dooley.

Dooley sucked completely, but I can't see why Butch gets any other label.

    and that's a recruiting issue.

There are plenty of talented guys with little brains that manage to be first round draft picks. We had one a few years before Manning. Hell, this past draft's #1 pick probably couldn't handle reading Goodnight Moon.

He might have had more luck running if he'd at least attempted to hang onto the NFL caliber running back Kiffin left him.

    Bingo.

If you are having to compare Jones to Dooley to make you feel better about Jones you lose.

bray would have been another had he been able to keep the off field stupidity and wasn't intentionally tanking games.

I think a half decent coach keeps him dialed in enough to do just that. He had no respect for Dooley and wasn't interested in busting his ass to try to get Dooley from five wins to seven.

fair enough. as a coaching decision maker, I consider the two on par. Butch might have some incremental advantages elsewhere.

The fact that their coaching acumen can be reasonably compared is plenty damning of this current crew.

A coach that Bray and Da'Rick respects leads to an SEC Championship berth

Someone on staff seems to have gotten special teams playing reasonably well. I will give them credit for that and that's something Dooley couldn't figure out.

speed changed the defensive ST. Talent at punter. Our kicker is killing us.

    Yes, he did.

    Bray
    Hunter
    Patterson
    Rogers
    Rivera
    James
    Stone
    Thomas
    Neal
    Fulton
Richardson would have been a pro had injuries not forced him to quit football. Cup of coffee or not, thats a ton of guys that at the very least made it to the NFL.

come on. None of those linemen played well because they never got in shape. The WRs were never on a team together and we had the worst RBs UT has ever had. This team is going to have similar representation in the NFL, particularly at skill positions.

He meant Dooley didn't screw it up as you said. That offense was the last of that teams problems.

You're right, just an entire offensive line, a TE, a RB, 3 WR's and a QB.
