Forget getting beaten by a wide receiver playing QB. That's embarrassing, but it's nothing compared to two years prior. A team starting Morgan Newton at quarterback SCORED 24 POINTS on Tennessee and took us to overtime. Morgan Newton! Essplain yourself, Lane. Or, Monte, I suppose.
I know, that was mostly tongue-in-cheek. Don't forget the Stocker fumble late in the 4th when we were trying to basically run out the clock with a 24-21 lead. But they actually moved the ball pretty well at times during the second half. We were really saved by a couple of goal-line stands, or it could've been worse. And I think Newton might've gotten worse since his freshman year. It's amazing how bad he is now. I guess not having Randall Cobb hurts.
UF would have scored more against the Cats, but their wide receivers were really tired from running and catching all night. Seems like coaches should start conditioning receivers for that. Oh well.
