For me it's not that, it would be continuing to see our talent level rise and performance stagnate, all while knowing there's nothing that will get the son of a [itch bay] fired.
I remember a VQ article of all the possible coaches we could hire. I don't think they were even listing Gruden as a possibility, but there were seven or so coaches listed. I swear I remember thinking Butch was the worst. I was just dumbfounded when we hired him. Basically had all of 2012 to prepare for the transition and we get a bunch of public no thank you'd followed by Bortch.
Working with the assumption that Butch misses a bowl, gets fired and takes Hart with him, what are the odds that Gruden would come to Tennessee for the next search?
It's not been to hard to read the tea leaves. Gruden says twice in the last few months Tennessee is a dream job and Peyton Manning talks being quarterback coach. It's really easy to see even from 185 miles away.
I'm just wishing out loud. I have no inside info. The closest I got to that is the guys that know things here.
I don't have a clue about hiring. I just want the people pulling the strings to care about our school again. I want a coordinated effort to make us relevant again. I have a fantasy that the Harbaugh hire lit a fire under these jokers as to what can be done.
I still believe any thought of Manning being a coach is a fantasy, but I wouldn't mind being wrong. He'll likely be in the booth somewhere. He'd make a great color guy on MNF.
I like the way you think here. I need my own fantasy that doesn't see us hiring someone like Larry Coker.
