If Kahlil does what I think he can do, he may not have the stats, but the attention he draws will allow Barnett to have 15 or 16 sacks, Maggitt to have 13 or 14 sacks and both to be all over the field.
Yeah, a dominant DT makes everyone's job easier. Kahlil is dominant up front, taking on and beating a double team nearly every play. You've got O'Brien, who's not too shabby, going against the guard, Barnett abusing a tackle and either Maggitt or Vereen one on one with the other tackle. The LBs are free to roam and make plays, you can pressure with your front four and leave the DBs in coverage. For depth at DT you have Tuttle, Williams and Picou. It really is a thing of beauty.
I am guilty of that to a degree. The 2013 line was full of talented underachievers with a loser mentality. The 2014 line just sucks. The difference in them seems to be one win.
I do not mean this sarcastically or in a belittling way: how hard is it to play defensive tackle? Seems like if you are strong, aggressive, and learn a few moves you are going to be disruptive. Am I oversimplifying (probably)?
you're oversimplifying. That guy is making reads and explosiveness is the differentiator between space eater and mauler.
The 1-2 punch of Hurd and Kamara should really be a force to be reckoned with. It's been a long time since we've had a guy like Kamara. Watch his highlights y'all.
Conditioning is always a worry with these big guys that need to carry nearly 300 pounds. This guy seems like a freak and evidently is motivated, but hard to put yourself through the same type of punishment a coach would demand.
