I'll begin by quoting Harry Truman for, lack of a better term, my side: "[If] voters have a choice between a Republican candidate and a Republican-lite candidate, voters will choose a real Republican every time." I'm looking at you, Mrs. Grimes. I'll end by quoting Brian France of NASCAR: "Have at it, boys!"
I hated it when the Republicans did it and I would hate it if the Democrats did it. I don't know when compromise became such a sin.
Not generally supportive of obstruction, but I suppose it would depend on what specific legislation is being pushed. They all obstruct; some more justifiable than others.
Send single items with no ear marks or amendments to Obama's desk with bipartisan support to start. Reid has stonewalled since 2010 any bipartisan bill. This is a list of items i would send in this order: 1) Immigration Reform requiring the protection of the Border 2) Keystone Pipeline 3) Repeal of the medical device tax (the 7 largest medical device companies are in democrat held senate states up for reelection in 2016) 4) Repeal Employer Mandate - incentivizes companies to discriminate against low-income workers, and move hourly-wage laborers from full-time to part-time work. 5) Introduce a more affordable plan (Copper Plan) with higher deductible
That's compromise to you? If you repeal the mandate, may as well repeal the whole thing. That's not going to happen. Obamacare IS a compromise. It was a Republican plan until Obama proposed it.
Of course they didn't love Bush, but their sole objective wasn't a clearly stated desire to obstruct the president.
Bullshit. His own party didn't want it in it's original form. How many republicans even voted for the thing?
Bush actually knew how to work both sides of the isle rather than rant and rave about lack of cooperation while giving my way or the highway ultimatums behind closed doors. Bush didn't demend that the democrats pass things that are against core principles. What great piece of republican legislation did bush get put through congress? I'd love to hear it.
Where did the plan come from? I don't like it either. Didn't go far enough for me, but you can't deny that some if not many Republicans supported this type of plan before Obama proposed it. It's fact.
