My Trump preference aside, I think that it is much more likely that more GOPers will pull the Trump lever, than Sanders supporters will pull HRC's. Trump beat a whole bunch of people, and the last to fall was mostly reviled even amongst his own Party. Sanders people think that he was legit given the shaft, and HRC was the direct beneficiary of the Dems doing so. There's a more personal feeling of betrayal as to HRC beating Sanders, than anything with Trump's defeated foes.
You're onto something here. I feel like Sanders is the truest (most accurate?) embodiment of the thoughts, beliefs, ideals of the Democrats, just as Trump is for the Republican base, as we may ever see in any candidate again.
So the Donald called out my friend and former boss, Russell Moore, this morning. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/729613336191586304 I suppose I'm a nasty guy with no heart as well.
This is the lasting legacy of the Obama presidency, IMO: the mainstreaming of radical progressivism. 8 years ago you couldn't find 13 self avowed socialists in the country; today,Hillary tries to out-bernie Sanders to secure the nomination while IP convinces us there's nothing to see and that the only reason to oppose his views is bigotry. The Republicans have been accomplice to this, at least for the last 6 years, and this, on large part, is why Trump is wearing the crown. From obamacare to gay marriage to trans bathrooms to foreign affairs to smaller military to green whatever, the left advances the ball a little everyday while a huge chunk of America stands in disbelief, waiting for the people they elected to advance their causes to do, well, anything.
I don't know if it fits my post. It fits exactly my feelings in the profanity laced name-calling thread, where I tried to prove that very point through example. Also, it felt kinda good.
probably the best thing to come from that was this: http://babylonbee.com/news/russell-moore-spotted-nashville-bar-hours-exposed-trump-fired-erlc/
Russel Moore is a thoughtful evangelical. (In the minority I know). He has called other evangelicals to the carpet for being willing to support Trump. That's what prompted the tweet.
Russell Moore heads the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, the face of public policy for Southern Baptists. He has been critical of Trump here: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/05/06/opinion/a-white-church-no-more.html?referer= And here: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/09/17/opinion/have-evangelicals-who-support-trump-lost-their-values.html?referer= And here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2016/02/29/russell-moore-why-this-election-makes-me-hate-the-word-evangelical/ And all over social media.
1. What is it that he finds so disagreeable about Trump? Just summarize it. 2. Who did he endorse in the primary, if anyone?
Oh, this Russell Moore: Former staffer to Democratic Congressman (albeit, right-leaning) Ran an open-border PAC, partially funded by Democrat mega-donor (and pile of shit) George Soros. Supported Marco Rubio for Prez Argued that evangelicals should champion the resettlement of Syrian refugees in America Called Jesus "an immigrant" Said those who wanted a wall were worshipping a golden calf Now being sic'd on Trump again by the sour grapes of the National Review Hates Trump for being twice divorced, owning a casino, cursing, using "racist" comments (untrue, but never that mind, now) Is that the same dude? If so, he's your friend? Link: http://www.breitbart.com/big-govern...view-enlists-open-border-zealots-trash-trump/
When everyone who isn't a conservative is labeled a communist or socialist, the terms lose their magic. And when folks actually look up what a democratic socialist is, when they ask questions about America's infrastructure, how it was built, why it's in disrepair, the whole "socialist!" scarlet lettering system becomes empty. You see it as advancing an agenda, I see it as returning to the path of Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Eisenhower, JFK, and Nixon.
Obama was called a communist. Name some dems that haven't been labeled a socialist by conservative pundits.
You characterized the only reason for the law, hence the only reason for my view, as bigotry. It is your siren call to silence opposition and a dishonest way to advance tour issues because generally decent people don't want to be characterized as such. You labeled me bc you labeled my only possible motivation. However, you are too big of a coward to actually own that and admit wwhat you are doing. If you would like to get into my thoughts about your character, intelligence, or likeness to feces, I will, but we've already plowed that ground.1
