The Final Bow

Sigh. Less than a week after Fox aired that great documentary on his life and career.

 

This is one of those that just stings.

 

I don't really remember him as a coach, but his beer commercials and his announcing with Summerall where the best.

 

John and Pat were football for me growing up.

This sucks. John was just a card-carrying good guy.

 

Sums it up pretty well I think

Don’t really remember his beer commercials but always loved his “BOOM tough actin tinactin” spots.

His son in his ‘A Football Life’ gave his father the greatest testimony I think a child can ever give. He said that John was always present, and he cared.

Thanks “Doctor.” This might be the single greatest reminder I’ve ever seen that intellect and academic achievement are two different things. Assuming this guy really is a professor at an actual university.
