Just speaking for myself, you get attached when you watch a guy play every day for a decade and help win a WS. I’d take him back tomorrow even though I think Olson is better for the next 5 years. The fact that he signed for less per year than the Braves reportedly offered him is also a little hard to swallow. Idk what happened. Braves’ Athletic guy said his agent gave Alex Anthropolous a midnight ultimatum for either 6 years for 175 or 5 years 165 million. AA rejected it. Then he winds up signing with the Dodgers for 6 and 162 because I guess he lost his leverage. Although I have read the Blue Jays were going to pay him more than that. Of course this is the Braves version. He looked genuinely sad at his Dodgers intro press conference.
Well, "that mother[uck fay]er" now has undertones of racism. As a frequent and fervent user of "mother[uck fay]er", I will not stand idly by and let my favorite word be slandered. San Francisco Giants coach Antoan Richardson accuses Mike Shildt of yelling expletive that 'reeked undertones of racism' (espn.com)
Less about the word "mother[uck fay]er" and more about the idea of "you need to control that guy" IMO
Richardson wasn't saying the word "mother[uck fay]er" in and of itself has racial undertones, but the sentiment taken as a whole of "you need to control that mother[uck fay]er" is a little different. Sometimes a variant with women is "keep your [itch bay] on a leash", and if he's thinking of it that way I can see why he was upset. Regardless, it sounds like he and Shildt talked it out on the field and shook hands.
There's like a perfect game every 5 years. Most HoF pitchers don't have one. But by all means pull him with 80 pitches.
