?? I don't understand. IIRC, Colquitt was back-up to Andy Kelly. Then got beat out by Shuler the next year. He had a season-ending injury. Peyton only played because Helton got hurt. It was not because the coaches thought a freshman, Manning, was a better QB. I am not sure I buy into the theory that our recruiting was awesome the next year because Manning played. Playing your 3rd string QB because 1 & 2 were hurt is not coaching/recruiting genius.
It was amazing because Fulmer was an amazing recruiter when he wanted to be, Peyton bumbling around figuring out how to play qb at this level didn't do it
I’ve said many times that 94 team is at minimum a SEC contender if Colquitt doesn’t go down. That offense was going to pick up right where it left off with Shuler.
The only injury that comes close to just deflating a season was Justin Hunters. When Colquitt went down I felt so bad for him because he had been waiting for ever to get his shot.
