Southern Cal and South Carolina are in definite search for a new coach. As is Maryland. Programs such as Miami and Texas could be on the hunt as well. Potential to be a crazy year for coaches.
There will pretty much always be good openings. I don't think you can really base coaching searches around that.
Texas probably isn't coming open. We should be able to do better than all those other schools except USC. Although wasn't Miami supposedly close to getting Gruden?
I heard a guy call in on a radio show down here, he said he didn't want Gruden, said he's been out of football too long. The host agreed.
Unless he loses out, strong will get year 3. Miami will likely be schiano. Not sure us as scw would be looking at same guy, although possible I guess. Maryland, meh. But Illinois makes their interim guy official. Who knows where jr will look.
I agree in Strong and Schiano. I think USCe goes hard after Dantonio. Kiffin will be moving on from Alabama, I believe he'll be a head coach somewhere, just don't know where yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see Butch at Maryland I don't know about Southern Cal. If they refuse to go outside the "Trojan family" they don't have a lot of options
Pretty much agree with all of this. I could see Kiffin at Purdue when that job opens up. I also wonder if he would be interested in the UCF job. Nice weather, not a lot of booster ass kissing, good recruiting...etc.
Odds on UGA coming open at year's end? And I would be scared if Kiffin landed in Athens. Great googly moogly...
Why Kiffin at UGA would be scary? I think all UGA needs is one good coach to pull it all together, and they can be a power. They are the sleeping giant of college football, imho. The sheer amount of talent in Atlanta is mind boggling and I worry once they get their Spurrier, that beast will never go back to sleep.
