Stats show that blacks are killed at a higher percentage of their population. There may be more shootings of white people, but white people make up a higher percentage, so that's expected.

Let's examine this, though. Why is black homicide 4x higher than the rest of the population? Most likely answer: poverty. Ok, so why is the black population rate of poverty higher by percentages of population than whites? ... or is it?
And in those interactions, blacks are being shot and killed at a higher percentage than their interactions should suggest. Also, even though the homicide rate is higher, I'd be willing to bet you have a lower response rate. Gunshots in your neighborhood probably more likely to draw a response than gunshots in some others. So I'm not seeing much in all that.

Poverty rate for blacks is 2.6x higher than non-Hispanic whites. So yea, that rate is pretty damn close to the homicide rate of blacks vs non-Hispanic whites. By percentage of population, that rate is even higher, as we'd expect higher percentages of whites in poverty due to being a higher percentage of the overall population.
