    Bullshit degrees?

Holy shit. Who put you in charge of the value of any degree?

    Condescend much?

Maybe that was too strong. Most of the people I know teach young kids and I'm just not convinced as to the usefulness of a lot of the stuff they did as to actually teaching kids English and math and whatnot.

It's certainly not as high up on the difficulty scale as many.

    Maybe?

Your goat husbandry degree is bullshit.

    So, teachers should have apprenticeships?

There is a lot of unused fluff in every degree.

Other than the logic portion, I hardly use my degree at all.

    Really? Doesn't show.*

*That's a joke, since I need to be careful with jokes, now.

Maybe. I'm not sure there's much else they could do with it. I mean, they are doing what they want to do so it is what it is.

I learned more during my semester of student teaching than I did in the other classes combined. This goes back to Uni's point, who is making these standards up? Bureaucrats and politician appointed state boards, not actual folks doing the work.

I guess this is aimed at the system as much as anything. It's not as much about using it as what is required

Whatever makes you feel more important than someone else, I guess.

    Your position is noted.

You really don't understand what you've said, do you?

Sessions would have me in a reeducation camp. That's a joke, but barely.

I probably did a bad job of putting it all out there.

Also, someone regarding a degree in education as worthless just shows how anti-intellectual we have become.

I still think education should be ran at the state level, and not federally. Every time you get a new directer, they have to put their stamp on things.

This leads to a huge waste of resources and training, because it's generally a different direction all together.

Yes. I didn't get bent out of shape over No Child Left Behind because I knew it would change soon.

And I am not picking on you jqk, I totally get how one could say that without thinking, given the climate regarding education and the crappy ones that move in and out of the profession. It isn't fair to the good ones though.

I guess too, I probably put too much emphasis on the education degree but it seems like to me there are barriers to certain types of people getting into teaching because they haven't jumped through this state or federal hoop, when they may have experience and knowledge that could be put to great use teaching.
