I've never shot one, but I like the concept. I do have a .25-06, which I would think fills the same purpose. It's heavy enough to get the job done with very little recoil. That particular rifle is a tack driver, too, so it's really a joy to shoot.
I have a 30-06, I was just wondering. Never had a problem with anything running too far, even with a not great shot
It's pretty much exactly the same. I bought it when he was 3, I found a guy selling for cheap. I sighted it in, shot a few times and decided I would hunt with it until he got old enough to shoot it.
I found a .257 Roberts model 70 in Vermont for pennies back in my Army days that I bought with that purpose for "someday". Now that I've got a 7 year old stepson he's gonna get one of my 94's because I won't give up the .257 til I'm planted.
I am over as well. We have more ducks than we’ve had all year. Mostly gadwall and some teal. I killed another pair of rare mallards this morning, the rest gadwall and teal.
I love how duck mounts look. My wife keeps telling me just to buy one online, but its not how I want to get one.
We let a big group of teal embarrass us and 10 or so mallards get by. We weren't expecting to pull the trigger and ended up having a good day
