He might have made triple that rate in five years. Of course he would have been making less in the interim. He can still get a big contract at age 31. Guessing if he had waited until arbitration ran out he could have played the first 10 years of his contract for around 250 million. (40 million a year for years 6-10)
Brah. I LIVED for Two'fer Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays in Savannah. $4 for a military ticket. And I lived about 5 minutes from the stadium. Good times
his plight just makes what guys like Rivera and Hoffman did more impressive, to me. Been a bunch of guys come through as closers and be practically unhittable for a year or 2 and then all of a sudden just lose it
Closers are like kickers in the NFL. Once they lose it, you cut em and get another one. In fact, I think the closer is such a over-hyped position that I am not sure it is worth carrying one. IMHO.
Once went out on a mound visit to tell my pitcher to pitch around him. He took that to mean hang a breaking ball and watch Lane hit a piss missile that just about hit our shortstop and left fielder both in the top of the head. And damn he could scoot. Snapped a nice clipboard.
Spent a whole a lot of summer days playing backyard ball with him growing up. Good kid, I’m pulling for him.
Yea he’s an outstanding young man. I shook his hand after a game and told him he was the best pure high school hitter I ever saw.
Red Sox, geez. Inventing ways to lose games. Grand slam tonight. Astros are at least giving me some enjoyment.
Saw that yesterday and thought there was no way that could be true. All time great random nonsense stat
