Enjoyed my 2 trips to Connors. Had some chick pea entree one night to do something different and it was awesome.
We are trying to figure out where to go. Going a Thursday through early Sunday, basically 3 days. One day is Katz, one day is John's for lunch. We are completely up in the air on dinner. Want one to be really, really nice if any ideas.
couple buddies make fun when I say it, but I enjoyed walking around eating different foods at Eataly. Never seen a market like that, then went up to rooftop
This post has caused a lot of annoyance because neither me nor the wife can remember if we had a special reason to go there or just went for fun.
I ate at Connors on Saturday night. Was very good as always. Last nice restaurant I went to in NYC was Smith & Wollensky. I’d recommend, though I think there are probably better steakhouses. I’d also recommend making reservations or ASAP.
Ordering looks absurd, but it’s really easy. There’s 7 lines for sandwiches, so just hop in one and be sure to tip your slicer (they might even make it worth your while). There’s also a line for dogs and soups and another pouring beers. Or you can be seated and get a server, otherwise you’re on your own finding a table. Whatever you do, do not lose your ticket.
My lone NYC food story was there was little bar near out hotel when we went in 2008 where we'd end every night. I started talking to the bartender, we became buds for the week, eventually he introduces me to a guy, he's the executive chef at Del Frisco's. Tells us to come and eat there and to drop his name. So we do. And we get seated pretty much immediately, and then after we order and all he comes out, talks to us, and everyone in the place is looking at us wondering who in the world we are, and then he sent out a couple of massive desserts on the house. Felt like a king. Moral of the story - always be nice to your bartender.
