His Cardinals teams were something else. I miss that style of baseball (admittedly I haven't watched much baseball in 5+ years, so perhaps it has moved back more to small ball, but I doubt it).

The top 39 seasons for strikeouts by a batter have all come since 2008. Bobby Bonds is in 40th place with 189 in 1970.

Mark Reynolds alone has 4 seasons in the top 27, lol.

The Allmans are goated in my house. Dickey also wrote my two favorite instrumentals of all time. Would give anything to have seen the original lineup.

Backdoor Allman Bros' story. (Possibly TL;DR)

Back in the day, Sam&Andy's got booted (rent increase) from original location. They opened place across the street for a few seasons. Eventually, turning over to young couple run, use name food menu, process.

Being longtime customers of OG place, we became friendly with young couple running it.

Buddy and I bought Neyland prints from bookstore and said something about liking to get them autographed by coaches. Lady said coaches came down and ate lunch once a week and she would get them autographed for us. We'd leave them with her at last game and get them from her 1st home game next season.

Came back, place was gone, out of business,, was something else. Southwest Grill or some such chain place.

We are pizzed. Buddy says we don't even know their names. I said "Melissa". How do you remember that? "Sweet Melissa", I said. To this day he gets pizzed everytime Allman Bros' "Sweet Melissa" is played.

    Yes, we lost the prints.

This is probably my favorite smoking meat/drinking with friends/driving to the grocery store song.

At Fillmore East is my favorite Allman album.

I've still got my original vinyl from '71/'72. It still sounds good when I play it.

Me and my friends used to gauge long lengths of time by Whipping Post from Fillmore East.

His useless sports knowledge was the envy of my youth. Ask the man about 10th level Estonia curling and he’d know it.
