Possibly. He'll keep Daddy Lawson, then start going down the Penny Hardaway, Elliot Perry, Tony Madlock, et al list to fill out the staff. This isn't Tubby's first rodeo. He's not taking that job to coach gritty three stars and projects.

 

In all seriousness, can Perry coach? I know he does radio, and I think he's a part owner in the Grizzlies.

 

He wouldn't have to coach. That's Tubby's forte. Any of those guys brought on board will be there purely for player procurement purposes. If they go that route, they'll get every player they want out of the city.

 

Can he even be on staff as an nba owner is what I was trying to ask.

 

Tubby will coach for the first 3 years and then check out and coast.

I can't imagine why he wasn't wildly successful at Memphis. He has everything in the right context, clearly.
