Doesnt really belong in here but for shits and giggles just say we close with the guys we believe are leaning our way. Realistically, how many of them can or will contribute day one? What are we lacking for a no shit shutdown defense that is going to win games?
The defense is close, just keep adding depth. The offense is a quarterback away from being really good
Middleton throwing the tight end into the pulling guard and tailback at Alabama made me happy. Matthew Butler is a fine defensive lineman that doesn't get enough credit
So close imo, as in consistently fielding one more good MLB and having a consistent edge rusher this year. Everything else is there and somewhat bankable.
I think the edge rusher will be by committee. Bennett and Johnson are decent, Harrison gets better then add a Morven Joseph or French and you've got a pretty good one. The way Pruitt blitzes, the nickel or the safeties usually come clean
Hearing Pruitt talk about DB evaluation is really interesting. Even the interviewer seems shocked at the level of detail he's getting. https://247sports.com/college/tenne...acks-147171050/Amp/?__twitter_impression=true
had no idea our dbs had 15 picks last year. shoulda been able to take advantage of that more offensively
I love the focus Pruitt puts on DB. One of my favorite things in football is a cocky DB that can lock a WR1 down.
There was certainly improvement as the season went (which if we're being honest had to happen) but I do believe there is still some work to be done up front and on the back end. As JG mentioned, depth is certainly something this haul would help fix for sure. That may be what's missing when all is said and done. The kiddos should have a better understanding of what Pruitt is trying to do so I really expect things to be ratcheted up from a scheme perspective.
Safety, ILB, a pass rusher, and probably need some more corners. That's based on what we lost from last season and not factoring in what the incoming freshmen may bring to the table.
We are finally coached to know where our blitzes make the qb check to, and waiting on it. The shit othrr teams fo to JG, btw. I ive been waiting for anticipation D for years. Disrupt the los, pressure, give the qb 1.5 seconds to throw and be waiting on that shit. Love it.
Dont k ow why but I found it interesting that he had an offer to Yale. https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Miles-Campbell-129112/RecruitInterests/
