The kids behind us and my 4 year old finally badgered me (and their parents) enough one day to buy something from him. That's literally the only time I've seen him make a sale. And I'm pretty sure he gipped my kid on change, so that will be the only time I will be letting it happen.
People have been ripping copper out of homes with traditional foundations here in Memphis. Especially if the home has been sitting on the market for a while.
Oh yeah, but the people making a living off it will ask before they dumpster dive and aren't taking a handful of metal and running away from you.
On a side note; the Ice Cream Truck song is highly offensive:
There's a difference in normalization and legalization. Also, you can already go to CVS and buy opiates. If you think smoking weed directly leads one hard drugs, you're quite naive. You might as well blame cheerios, coffee, or porn.
I've wondered the same things. But they are awful diligent, at the same time. And I don't see them make pit stops for other things either. Maybe just money laundering?
i think the guy who comes around my neighborhood buys all his stuff from costco. it's not as though it's anything new or even homemade ice cream. i'm sure he doesn't report any income, but just driving around for 5 hours a day has to cost $60 in gas. hard to believe he sells enough to make a living.
The tune goes further back than that, but was always racist and associated with blackface in the US, going back to the Andrew Jackson days: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey_in_the_Straw
I have no idea. I just can't wrap my brain around how they are making a dime of profit. Maybe they aren't dealing out of the truck, are dealing elsewhere, and use the truck as a front? Maybe the people driving it around don't even deal, they just get paid to drive it around?
i have a hard time believing the old guy driving the truck around me is dealing drugs. i'm sure that's happening, but we also have peopel going around collecting cans and returning them for the deposit of .05c. not all people burn calories efficiently.
normalizing of an illegal habit. it encourages the continuation of the habit. can't score? go get some methadone to tide you over. need some needles? how bout some free ones from local government, just toss'em on the public side walk when you're done. hell, it's easier than talking a doc into scripts for norco, xanax and soma.
There is procedure that one must go through to begin methadone treatment. You can't just pop in and buy some.
