Bruce Pearl Hired as Head Coach at Auburn

After meeting with Auburn AD in Knoxville per ESPN.

I really wanted him back at UT but he would be a lot of fun for Auburn.

Perfect for me. Pearl at Auburn jumps right in the mix with Scott Drew as my least favorite coach in college basketball.

 

Excellent hire. I don't see him having quite the success he had at UT but he's a proven winner.

 

As shady as the barn's football program is, I'd have concerns bringing in someone who will bring extra NCAA eyes into the program.

 

Probably best for UT too. If we have to can Cuonzo, there won't exist a counter-movement to oppose any possible coach other than Pearl.

I would think this would amp up pressure to bring in somebody of some amount of note if Cuonzo is canned.

 

That already existed. I don't see how it adds to the pressure. If Pearl hadn't been hired by Auburn and Cuonzo was fired, there would have been enormous pressure to bring back Pearl or some very successful coach not named Pearl.

 

Just think there's extra because he's in the damn league now. If he takes a job in the ACC or somewhere odds are he's not bringing his show into your house.
