yup it was the summer of 2006. I was going to the game and wanted some tips as to where to stay and such. I mostly stayed around because of the politics board.
the main cal board is very similar to vnation. a bunch of homers and a moderator with a huge stick up his ass. he banned at least two dozen long time and prolific posters for being "too negative." to this day he spends a good deal of his time lecturing the posters about how they are constantly overreacting all while offering "premium" content that consists of him puking back whatever the administration tells him. he claims he doesn't break news because he's respecting the wishes of the players and coaches. actually he's just lazy. so I got banned from there, had no desire to return, and now post on the cal rivals insider board which has many people like myself.

Hmm. I don't like them, but someone might. I sort of like the gold chrome facemask. I like the idea of the bear. Just not the execution.
I'm sure it's intended to compete with Oregon. I doubt we ever see cal wear them. It's more about giving swag to recruits. Maybe they'll wear them against Texas or something
