Been way too long since I've had those. Mom would occasionally make those for dinner when we were kids - those days were bliss.
My Grandmother made incredible blackberry dumplings, also cherry and apple. All from my grandparents yard. Man I would give a lot for another mess of them. I have blackberry and raspberry vines, but the wife does make great cobblers with them. BTW, I am part Cherokee too, don't get Jay and me on the warpath.
I'm 1/16 Cherokee. But I never had blackberry dumplins. A cobbler makes life worth living too though. Wild blackberries are better --smaller seeds.
Wild ones are the only ones I have ever had. Choosing between a cobbler or a dumpling is tough. Grandma served them in a bowl with milk.
Cobbler is pie-ish thin, dumpling is just steamed dough, no? I've always had one as part of main meal, one as desert.
