That's my thought as well, but I hope he isn't making a miscalculation that hurts recruiting. Time will tell.

Saban's first team at Bama quit on him by the end of the year. Pruitt was on that staff to witness the transition.
Not saying it'll be the same but even the greatest coach in the country struggled to change the culture quickly

What makes you say they quit on him? They hung tough in every game they play d that year.

They lost back to back to Miss St and LA Monroe after taking a tough loss against LSU

Widely reported in bammerland that a decent portion of the upperclassmen did. The difference I see is that Pruitt is busy being a hard ass while Nicky was letting players decide internal discipline before the season was over or at least that's what I recall.

That MSU team wasn’t bad. 8-5 team that year.

Well then Saban is a metric shit ton better than what we have, I guess.

Chucky wouldn't have done much better with this team.

Gruden would have been Tennessee declaring it was tired of wondering the wilderness and was taking its rightful seat at the big boy table again.

I think Pruitt can be successful but it’s still a 2nd tier hire that we’re just left hoping that’s successful

At our current course and the Raiders current course we could be in store for Grudenmania III in about 3 years.

It's been the most dependable entertainment for UT fans in the past 11 years.

If it wasn't for coaching searches, I would have committed seppuka years ago.

I believe that. The difference would be that Gruden may handle the personalities better and he's a rock star name. Heading for a 4-8 or 3-9 year would still be on the table though. This team is broken. Recruiting and coach progression will tell the story. I'd worry less about both things with Gruden.

Oh, I concur, just stating he'd have the same shit to work with and for THIS season, results would probably be similar.

The only thing to do is go full blown youth movement.
