And yes, that’s somewhat tongue in cheek as I don’t really need the government coming after more of what little I do have. But I also don’t care about the fortunes of the 1, 2 or 3 percenters, and have a hard time feeling bad for somebody with 16 million (for example) in the back and making more.

That's all well and good but it seems like everytime "the rich will pay for it!" crowd gets in power, "the rich" they were speaking of magically becomes you and I.

I'm okay with instituting a program for the rich similar to what we see in Shirley Jackson's The Lottery.

I honestly didn’t think you meant “technically possible” when you said that. It’s not really the most practical way of framing things in the context of politics. A whole lot of things are technically possible, plenty that if said by a politician deserve ridicule, including this one.

My economic status as a white middle class male hasn’t changed since I entered the work force 25 or so years ago.

you're going to live long enough to be laughed at for what we are doing now, and so will I. you might reflect on things differently in 40 years.

There’s a whole lot of real estate between what we’re doing now and zero carbon emissions in 16 years or whatever she said.

Has the rate in which you were taxed changed in those 25 years or so?

if he's really been middle class the entire time his tax rate should have gone down.

I've lived from 3 channels on tv, to 4 when #24 was added, to cable with a zipline on the top to change channels to remote controls to pagers and payphones to fortran and shit programming to big cell phones to small cell phones, internet and now all the tech we have. We used to discuss self driving cars and if they would exist in the future. Then you see something happen you discussed as a kid talking about the future and its kindof nuts.
