Final Weeks of the 2016 Recruiting

Take a guy like Baylen Buchanan, one of the less impressive commits we have right now. tOSU is putting a full court press on this guy. Same with UF and Marcus Tatum. Devante Brooks was the probably the #2 TE in this class before getting injured. These guys aren't Dooley recruits.

The only thing that worries me is there aren't any high school defensive linemen. Alexis Johnson is a highly rated JUCO guy, but his eligibility is going to be up about the time McKenzie and Tuttle declare early for the draft. Bituli may grow into a pass rushing DE (he probably will) but where's the horses in the trenches? Getting Derrick Brown would be nice and take care of my biggest gripe with this class.

I actually like the OL haul right now, there's two guys that can grow into a starting spot in Niehaus and Tatum and Johnson could play from day one if need be.

 

It is, but he could still pull a few studs at DT, DE and WR. The LB recruiting isn't where it needs to be, though.

 

One more LB would be nice, assuming Bituli is an end.

 

Being ranked behind houston, kentucky, duke, wisconsin, cal can't be a good thing.

 

I agree, but Tennessee lands Warrior, Brown, Callaway and Dickerson (not unrealistic) the class flips.

Butch is going to have to close really strong to save it.

Laughed. He'll probably mistakenly tell a five star on signing day that we don't have room to accept his commitment and we'll end up with an open scholarship. Kid goes to Florida and wins three Heismans. Butch shrugs, knowing there was nothing he could have done to prevent such bad luck.

 

He'll show the kid the "chart" and it's over. Kid will go to Carson Newman over UT.

 

Butch calls timeout as the kid is reaching for the orange hat. Guy reconsiders and commits to Bama.

 

Although our class isn't great, none of those classes are better than ours.

You bring up a good point with the JUCO's, though. It sure seems like we've got some mediocre JUCO's taking up valuable space in this class.
