As a Dolphins fan, I concur.

 

Wannstedt is one of the five or ten best defensive minds of the last quarter century.

 

If butch peckerhead jones ends up getting a contract extension, I will poop on and burn anything related to the University of Tennessee, including my Signed Peyton jersey and hat.

That's why he keeps getting good jobs. He seems like a heck of a guy too.

 

He took over a Super Bowl ready team and ran it into the ground within a year. They still haven't recovered. He is terrible.

 

He obviously has a role he can play. It isn't HC.

 

Nah. People like Wannstedt have always amazed me. Everybody talks as if they are football geniuses. They keep getting hired. They keep getting fired because they suck, at least at being HC.

There are a few around the NFL. Romeo Crennel is another that comes immediately to mind.

 

Crennel and Weis have gotten multiple gigs and failed each time. They were great OC/DC's under Belicheck, but once they left his umbrella, they seemed to have gone to shit.

 

How many times has Wannstedt been fired as a coordinator?

 

People get Peter principled, it happens. Doesn't lower the level of their accomplishments prior to topping out.

 

I don't know. He's been fired a lot as a HC, mainly, I think, because he isn't a very good HC, which makes me wonder why people continued to hire him as a HC.

 

No different than NBA teams continuing to pursue Rick Pitino and John Calipari.
