I think a lot of it is because he was from the area. It's too bad for him Dan Gilbert has had so much luck in the lottery. I don't think many owners could have LeBron for so long and not find a way to get at least one ring.

 

So what? Wade is from Chicago. Should he have been under some duty to go sign with the Bulls? Should Carmelo be criticized if he doesn't go play for the Wizards?

 

Gilbert's reaction to LeBron leaving showed why he didn't deserve a player of that caliber in the first place.

 

I'm not saying it should have mattered. I just think it amplified the reaction, since he was leaving the team who drafted him and his hometown.
