Wasn’t hard to see that Milwaukee was going to get eliminated. I had pointed out a few times that their offense was garbage and that it was going to have to step up if they wanted to go anywhere. They didn’t win the Central because they were good, they won it because the Cubs and Cardinals were bad (all year and all but the last month, respectively).
He was underwhelming when he was named interim. Nobody was excited when he got the permanent job. This was the last year of his deal. The team grossly underachieved the past year. It’s not surprising.
I don’t disagree with any of that but a quick gander on Cardinals beat writers’ Twitter will tell you that it’s surprising.
I’m actually more surprised that David Ross is still the Cubs manager than I am that Mike Shildt is not the Cardinals manager.
