After I did a (very) little math it is not that big of an increase from the old offer. That said, they are going to be competing directly with the NBA and NFL with no fans in the seats. I just don't see how they can pull off paying half of salaries. Any chance the wealthier teams are willing to make the poorer ones whole in order to have a season?
Sounds like every offer the owners throw out gets back to players being paid about 1/3 of their 2020 salary.
I think a 48 game season is interesting. Talk about every game counting, holy cow. As for salary, owners will be bringing 1/3 the money as normal, cannot see how salaries shouldn't also equally suffer or else some of the smaller teams might just fold. But I don't really know the pay structure of MLB these days.
Whatever they work out, just know that whoever wins the World Series this year will have an asterisk next to their name and I will refuse to acknowledge them as champions for the rest of time.
Unless it’s the Cubs, in which case I will celebrate it for at least a year and acknowledge them as champions for the rest of time.
