Nah, just saved the universe and everyone in it from infinite overtimes in what was the worst football game ever played at any level.
Was there any doubt that it’d go down like that? I didn’t watch a down and didn’t even find out the final score until this morning because there’s no need to waste 4 plus hours on something you know going in what the final outcome is going to be. Unlike the Saints game, it wasn’t going to be anything controversial or outright obvious but a holding call here, a generous spot there... you can steer the outcome however you want but there was no way the Rams were going to win that game. No. Way. The NFL wasn’t about to have to listen to “tainted title” BS for the next 7 plus months...
I don’t have a dog in the fight... I’m a (lukewarm) Colts fan going back the their Baltimore days but what the NFL has become is disgraceful.
It was missed but Gilmore did a good job of hiding it, I didn't think it was a terrible missed call. The holding, though, was a terrible call.
As a fan it sucked, but as a coach I enjoyed it. The rams lived off of OZ all year and the Pats pretty much played a 1960's defense against them in the old pro 4-3 till passing downs. This put the game on Goff and he couldn't do it. The Pats going to the I in 21 personal and base blocking while using a fullback really took the Rams DL out of the game too instead of trying to zone them.
When they started doing that early on I chuckled. Can't run the ball on the Rams? OK, we'll just add a FB and run it right at em. And no matter the level, amazing what happens when you get penetration in the backfield.
