I would need corroboration from someone else that was in the pile. He-said-He-said is just a no go for me. Clearly Rudolph was pulling Garrett's helmet off first, and that alone should be reason enough for what happened next. Not condoning, but it is a reason. But I just knew the racial slur thing would show up sooner or later. I hate to be cynical of it, or "attack the victim" here, but we all knew that was going to come up.
Racial slurs or not, Rudolph is a [itch bay]. Garrett should have just thrown a left and knocked his ass out, though.
I'm not buying that there is this widespread rash of people just making up racial slur use as a "get out of jail free card." Same with rape accusations.

Did Garrett forget about him using a racial slur until the appeal process? Seems if Rudolph did use a slur and Garrett was angry enough to try to cave his skull in with a helmet, something would have been mentioned immediately after the incident.
Even if he did use a racial slur, I'm not sure that's enough to let Garrett off the hook for turning his helmet into a weapon against him.
